Digital Twin of a Design Academy: Preserving Exhibitions through Gaussian Splatting
Unlike traditional photogrammetry or 3D modeling, Gaussian Splatting transforms visual data into volumetric particles that preserve fine light, texture, and depth details. Every exhibited work, lighting change, and audience movement is recorded as part of a flowing digital archive, allowing the exhibition to exist beyond its physical boundaries.
The resulting digital twin enables viewers to revisit the exhibition in immersive virtual space—blurring the line between the real and the digital. It opens new possibilities for digital preservation, educational research, and curatorial innovation, turning ephemeral exhibitions into enduring cultural experiences.
This work demonstrates how emerging technologies can extend the life of design education and cultural communication—redefining how we record, remember, and interact with spaces of creativity.
