"A Study on Body, Gender, and Power" Intrauterine device
“节育环”
The work revolves around the theme of the intrauterine device (IUD) and attempts to discuss it from an objective perspective. Currently, two-thirds of the women using IUDs worldwide are in China. Even today, a large number of young Chinese women still rely on the IUD as a method of contraception. The work presents Chinese characters crafted from the metallic material used in IUDs in the form of posters, using symbolic elements as metaphors to reflect on the history and implications of birth control. It aims to raise awareness about the IUD and to provoke reflection on the interconnected issues of gender, the body, pain, illness, and power.
作品围绕着“节育环”主题进行创作，并尝试站在客观的角度进行讨论“节育环”的话题。目前，全世界佩戴节育环的女性，有三分之二都在中国。直到今天，还有很大一部分中国年轻女性在使用节育环作为避孕手段。作品通过以节育环采用的金属材质去制作的中文字体以海报的方式呈现出来，通过符号性元素隐喻对于过去使用节育的思考。 作品希望令更多的人了解“节育环“，去反思和了解性别、身体、疼痛、疾病、权力之间的关系。
